Well I just bought an 83 nighthawk sweet machine garage kept and so clean you could eat off if it !! And just my luck got it plated and about two rides in I noticed a knock that got loud very fast .. So I stopped even starting it ... Checked top end ..perfect .. Dropped the oil pan and full of metal .. Number two rod bearing just fell apart seams like .. So I took off the rod cap to confirm and yes no bearing ... Very little marking or scoring almost no damage ( visable)... Now here is the question can I just put a new bearing in and go or should i go over sized or new rod ... Hoping not to tear the motor any further apart than I have to with the oil pan off I can just get a new bearing in .. Not a lot of room in their to plasta gage or mik it .. What should I do ??? Please help I really love this bike
