I understand they have a 500 in the works too.

I think someone at HD realized they are losing market share among the youth
segment, as their current offerings are expensive save the Sportster, and
that one has had its desirability tarnished by their existing ownership and
dealer network as a "girl bike."

The Streets should give them a way to appeal to the younger riders, and it
gives them a platform without too much sentimental build-up or "heritage"
that they can testbed new tech on. As these new riders age they can phase
in such tech in their higher line-up without owner backlash too.

Just my opinion, of course. I don't work for HD.
