Found out last week my 86 Nighthawk cb450sc needs a stator, at least that's
what the Honda dealers service department said. Well here it is 7 days
later and they can't find one, I've been trying also, spending hours on the
web trying to find one. Honda doesn't make them anymore. On ebay I found
one I thought would work but I needed a part number from the seller which
he didn't know and he doesn't accept returns.. I may have found a new one
in a foreign country from a parts dealer. The only problem I have is they
won't return my emails asking if it is indeed new or rebuilt. They wan't
custome The dealer is a reputable one. The price including shipping is
$450 so it should be a new one. Does anyone know if the stator from other
Nighthawk model years will fit in mine? I also found a stator repair kit
which I may try. The worst part about rebuilding one is removing the dry
epoxy There is also a lot of info on the web on how to repair them so I
may have to try that way. If I can't get this one repaired or find a used
or rebuilt one then I'll I have to sell the bike for parts. If anyone knows
a workaround for this problem I would appreciate it. It's a shame to
because the bike has only 7,000 miles on it and other than the stator and
a scratch on the gas tank and battery cover it's in near mint condition.
Any suggestions/help on this matter would be greatly appreciate.

                                                                 Thanks,
                                                                 Brian
