I have that problem occasionally with my ignition. Everything goes black. I 
just don't want to get back into it again so soon after the last time.
When you start it, tap on the switch and see if it stops or stutters. Then 
wiggle it around without changing the switch position. If you get any stop 
of flicker then you may be looking in the right place.

With mine I have to remember to tap it after I turn it on. It is as though 
it needs to seat into the proper position so it won't vibrate to a 
disconnected state. 
Yeah, it sucks for me; I'll get to it soon. I am not too fond of having two 
keys after I buy a new ignition.
