In a perfect world, you're right. Asking someone who doesn't know the carbs 
have an idle screw to take them off and clean them is a dangerous thing, 
IMHO. I've seen several bikes on CL that said "bike was running until my 
buddy said he'd clean the carbs for me." And as I've said before, just take 
your bike into the shops here and say "clean the carbs" and you're looking 
at a $400 bill. So the question comes down to "Would you pay $400 to drop 
your idle speed from 1500 to 1000?" I didn't figure he would, so that's why 
I answered the way I did.

Even worse, he could spend all that money to have the carbs cleaned and 
then come to find out the boots were leaking and making it idle high. That 
would be an "Ay caramba!" moment for sure.
