The 700S is generally considered THE Nighthawk of the 80s - they
are very popular on this group both among those that ride and collect. A
good bike to start off with - provided you can physically handle it - the
seat height is not low and you need to be able to flat foot your first
bike, in particular, to recover from rookie mistakes. (I still make the
occasional one - years and years into riding)
If you haven't already taken it - find an instructor / class /
school in your area that will give you the Motorcycle Safety Foundation
Basic Rider Course - MSF BRC - this is a two or three day (depending on the
school) course that provides classroom and on-bike instruction. There is no
better way to start learning how to ride.
