thank you in ad vance, I'm having issues with my 650 starting up fine and driving for about a half mile, sometimes less, before it just dies out. The cluster lights are on ok and all and it won't start until the ignition is turned off, wait 30 seconds and then starts right up for another short run. when it stalls, there is no sputtering like out of fuel, just stalls and won't start again till it sits 30 seconds. it cranks over just fine also. Now, this didn't happen until I was having starter problems and had to put a starter brush kit in it. while I was taking the ground wire off the starter my wrench just touched the positive cable and shorted just a little but the fuse strap and all the fuses were ok. other than that a couple times before the brush job, it would crank over a lot and not start and when I turned the key off there would be a backfire. I took the tank off and cleaned everything, unplugged all connectors and inspected for looseness and corrosion. could it be a defective control box or perhaps a bad ignition switch? I really would like to ride my bike this summer and it is already mid july. please help!
