According to summit racing 50' of 2" wide will do a set of V* headers. Yes it will reduce heat. Once the wrap gets soaked with oil it will always smoke. I'd just fix the leak. That is up to the beholder. Wet the wrap before installing, it helps to get it nice and tightly wound.
