Paul,

I attached the original instructions (PDF) to a question about installing
the backrest a couple of years ago. I have a scan of the PDF but am away
from the PC that has it until next Monday. The good news is that its
actually really easy to install, especially if you can look at your sons
bike. You do have to take off the upper bolt for the rear shocks. If you
have a center stand put the bike on the stand and then slip a 2 by 4 under
the back wheel by turning the wheel backwards until it's holding the wheel
in place. This will keep the shocks lined up and make removal and
installation a lot easier. As far as cutting out the cowl it's only about
a 2 inch section that needs to be cut.

When I get back home next Monday I'll find the instructions and send. I
thought I uploaded them somewhere on this site too but just don't remember.
