Well, I got off easy. This note is in response to my earlier thread about a bolt that was jamming in my headstock where the handlebars bolt on. (I was installing a 1 inch handlebar riser kit.)
I decided before I went and bought a tap I would work the bolt into the threads using a liberal amount of 3-in-1 oil. I put oil onto the inside threads and also coated the bolt itself. Then, just using my fingers, I twisted the bolt into the slot slowly moving it back and forth. I encountered resistance at first but without putting any undo pressure on the bolt I was eventually able to get past the point where the bolt would jam and it went all the way in. Problem solved!
