My wife, who is 55, is taking the purchase of our new Honda scooter seriously. She told me today she wanted to go to the DMV and pick up the motorcycle manual for getting her endorsement. Wow! (Knowing her, she'll ace it. She always does.)
Here in Oregon anything on two wheels over 50cc's is technically considered a motorcycle for the purpose of licensing. She will be required to take the same written and driving test that would be required to ride a Goldwing. Since our scooter is 110cc's she has to take the whole package. As soon as the weather starts to clear up a bit around here I'm going to set her up with some cones on our church parking lot and run her through her paces. That was actually her idea. I think she's excited :-) Next thing I know she'll want to ride my Nighthawk!! Eek!
