Eric, any smoke coming from the valve cover should be preceded by some oil seepage at the valve cover gasket or the half moons. Check to be sure it's smoke you are seeing from the valve cover. That is unlikely. It's more likely oil that is seeping onto the exhaust somewhere. I would let it go for a while and see if it clears up by burning off any remaining oil residue. Graham
