There are several ways to solve that issue. Starting from the easiest. 1) Add a 
pad, sometimes called a butt buffer, you can get them in varying sizes and 
materials and many are much more comfortable than a stock backrest. 2) Adjust 
the bars with a riser or a moderate tilt our a combination. 3) Replace your 
bars with some bars that have a longer reach to help offset the difference. Of 
course you could always go to the extreme and put on some ape hangers... LOL

​Glenn, those backrests are usually very adjustable, so you should play around 
with it. Quite honestly I think driver's backrest ​are AMAZING, and my wife 
never had any trouble getting on our Wing. As Javier said, mounting it with 
your foot on the peg/foot rest and swinging your leg over is the best way. Once 
those babies are adjusted correctly they can make for some VERY comfortable 
riding.
