I am rebuilding the top end of my '83 550. I have a replacement head I got
off ebay, because the original head was cracked where a bolt from the valve
cover went in, and it leaked oil. I am rebuilding this replacement head and
I found that both exhaust valves on the #3 cylinder are bent! I have
replacement valves from the original head, so I guess I'm OK. Here is my
question(s): How could this happen? How do I keep it from happening again?

Thanks!
Joe
