Not Honda related, but did anyone else hear that Polaris will be killing
off the Victory brand name?

It came out last month, and I for one am saddened. Any removal of a brand from
the market, no matter if you ride it or not, doesn't help motorcycling in
general.
In retrospect, Polaris tried to buy Indian motorcycle once before - and
on their second attempt, they managed to buy it. If you owned a brand that had
history in motorcycling since 1901 - would you keep your own brand that you
spontaneously started less than 20 years ago?
I'm not sure I would. I'd take everything I learned from that brand, all
the talented people I'd hired and roll them into an effort to make that
historic brand name the best line of motorcycles it could be.
Simple fact - in 2017, in the United States, the people that can afford
to buy a new motorcycle at a cost of $20,000 plus are going to buy what they
like and if they want something other than a Harley, but want an American Made
bike, Indian has a lot more nostalgia and history than Victory. I suspect that
was part of the decision.
