I am leaving for a 4 day ride tomorrow at 6am. Last night, stopped for gas and my '82 450 NH was all sorts of dead. No electric whatsoever. I checked all of the fuses and they were all fine. I wired a charging port directly from the battery earlier that day, and suspected that was the trouble. But all was well there. Finally, after some wiggling of the key the lights flicked on and I ever so carefully wiggled until they stayed on. She fired right up. I have previously had issues with the tail light not coming on, and wiggling the keys seems to "fix" that. So the problem lies in the ignition, and I don't have time to get a new one. 2 questions: Is there any solvent I can put in the ignition to help whatever might be lose or frayed or whatever? And, for when it fails, how do I hot wire it on the side of the road 1,000 miles from home?
