The tach is a known, separate problem with the tach itself. Don't try relying on it for troubleshooting.
Good acceleration and good idle, but poor steady state, wouldn't be an ignition issue I wouldn't think. I'm by no means a carb expert, but if it's popping under steady state operation that sounds like fuel. How many miles? Before it was really bad so much that the previous owner had to ride with the choke on all the time. It was dumping gas into the crankcase and the dealer was able to stop that issue by rebuilding all the carbs and syncing them and replacing the oil and filter. It's starts fine idles fine acceleration is great. Just when I am going about 45 or steady speeds I can hear it sound like it's missing and the power seems weak for a 750cc bike. I also have a tach issue where it jumps on then off bouncing around. I could have a bad tach or bad ICM not sure yet. I'm thinking something in the electrical for the missing at steady speeds issue. The bike sat for a long time under a cover in the guys garage. Very clean bike looks new but suffers from not being stored properly. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Nighthawk Motorcycle Lovers!" group.
