That video was with no serious attempt to clean the carbs.  I had it 
started with carb cleaner sprayed into the airbox.  I brought it to a pro 
and had the carbs cleaned.  The mechanic said 3 of the slides were frozen 
and as far a funk in the carbs, he repeatedly used the adjectives 
"horrific" and "shit show", all said in good fun.  He said they were in the 
top (bottom?) 1% in terms of funkiest carbs he's rebuilt.  The bike is 
running great now.
