The two breather tubes go down either side of the frame tubing . They go up before going down just to form a gentler sweep. No gas should come out. If it does you have a leaking float valve or leaking O rings in the metal fuel feed to each carb. Tap the bowls with a screw driver first to see if it might be a sticking float. Sometimes draining the bowls and refilling can work.
