Mark, assuming the valve cover bolts are tight, there are a couple of
things I have tried over the years.
The obvious is replacing the gasket.
Next,  which I have done most of the time is thoroughly cleaning up the old
gasket and the mating surfaces and then using silicon when reinstalling. I
think I have used the silicon when replacing a new gasket as well.
Once or twice I have found that the valve covers were not down tight enough
even though the bolts were tight.  I added a fiber washer to the bolts to
compensate. You have to be careful doing that not to overtighten.
I usually go with option two, cleaning the old gasket and surfaces and
using silicon. That has always worked for me.
