Check that the washer is not stuck to the lip of the oil filter. Thats what usually happens to it, then it gets thrown away with the filter. I get the right size, or close to it from the hardware store and file out the hole to make it fit. Have had to do it numerous times on Nighthawks that have the washer missing.
