My 1996 Nighthawk has screws where the pop rivets are supposed to be. I suspect it was a victim of a Hodge mod by a PO, but I never took the baffles out to find out. My CB550K also has holes drilled on either side of the center exhaust hole. Neither bike sounds any different from stock. They probably thought the bikes would sound better, go faster, etc with these holes drilled. They don't.
