Hi MizMandaLyn, 
If you put the old bulbs back in I bet the blinkers work fine. If so it is 
because the blinker relay requires current to heat up a bimetallic armature 
that opens the contact and turns off the light. When the armature cools the 
contact closes and the light turns on again and the cycle repeats. The LED 
bulbs don’t draw enough current to heat up the armature in the old style relay. 
Give it a try to confirm.
