When I replaced mine with a cheap aftermarket one, I installed it backwards. Not good. Wires started to smoke. May sound funny, but yeah make sure to plug it in right. At first look, all the tabs seemed the same thickness. But 2 of them should be thicker.

I would read that as a loose connection on that fuse tang creating higher resistance which creates the heat. If the connection was loose creating all this heat, it wouldn't put more amps thru the fuse to blow it, less amps would go thru because of the loss of amps creating the heat on the melting side.
