This was right after I got it and didn't know how much rust was in the tank. I just sent my carbs to have them cleaned in a $5000.00 ultrasonic cleaner. They will be like factory new. Can't wait! Did you check the diaphrams for damage, are the float valve seats super clean? Do you soak the carbs in a carb cleaner? Just some thoughts. Good luck! Do you use stabil or seafoam and non ethanol fuel?

I don't think my tank is rusted, but it's possible. The petcock sump is clear, and all 4 cylinders are firing. And I think I can rule out the 5 gal container as source of contamination after realizing I had used it for the 650 as well, and that one has no carb issues. Mine is a bit of a cantankerous old lady it seems: today she's idling alright even after pulling the choke. Took her for a spin, and she's running fine. Yesterday she died three times during my commute to work, sputtered and coughed during acceleration and died immediately when easing up on the choke. Today I grudgingly took the car into work, and she decides to better snap into shape, lest she be left at home again tomorrow. The carbs do need balancing, I'll do that next. But I have no idea what's really going on with Mademoiselle. Holger On Tuesday, March 5, 2019 at 7:47:34 AM UTC-8, Arthur R (Bob) Sheller wrote: That's true, is the tank rusted? If so you need to run a filter. I found that out the hard way. My petcock bowl was packed with rust. This is how much came out of the bowl! -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Nighthawk Motorcycle Lovers!" group.
