The ring you are talking about behind the turn knob is secured by rivets. You have to drill them out to get to it, (then tap and screw new screws to put it back together). The rebuild kit does not include that metal pressure ring. Start with the other side, the vacuum rebuild kit. I would check them first before ordering anything. Sometimes they just need cleaning.
