I'm looking for a 4-into-2 exhaust for my 1983 NH650. There doesn't appear to be an aftermarket 4-into-2 system made for it. And the used OEM exhausts on eBay usually are in worse shape than what is on my bike now.
MAC does offer a 4-into-2 system for the CB*550*SC. The main difference between the 550 and 650 exhausts is how the mufflers attach to the rear footpeg brackets. The CB650SC mufflers attach by means of a bolt that sticks up vertically from the muffler, passing through a whole in a horizontal section of the rear footpeg bracket. By contrast, the CB550SC mufflers attach by means of a vertical tab on the muffler that bolts to the rear footpeg bracket. In turn the rear footpeg brackets are designed a bit differently, and appear to attach to the frame differently too. This is perhaps a poor description, but the differences can be seen in the respective online parts diagrams for the muffler and footpegs. I'm wondering if the MAC 4-into-2 system for the 550 can be adapted to the 650. Perhaps if the footpeg brackets are swapped out it would work. I'm not sure if the exhausts attach below the engine in the same way. Do folks familiar with the 550 and 650 think it can be done? MAC does offer a 4-into-1 system for the 650, but I much prefer the aesthetic of the 4-into-2 system. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Nighthawk Motorcycle Lovers!" group.
