So my father, son and I decided to tackle this project... Here is what we
did...

1..Remove seat

2..Remove rear wheel

3..Remove grab rail

4..Remove clutch side rear shock

5..Remove final drive with drive shaft and swing arm

6..Remove universal if it did not come off with the final drive swing arm
assembly

7..Remove the rear cross shaft bearing holder

8..Drain engine oil

9..Remove small oil line that is running horizontally

10..Remove top and bottom banjo bolts on long oil line running vertically.
This will give you room to work the housing on and off.

11..Disconnect the electrical connection running vertically and move out of
the way.

12..Remove the side gear case housing. We used a piece of 2x4 and lead shot
mallet. Hit it from the top, hit it from the throttle side to clutch side
in rear wheel space, repeat until housing comes off.

13..Clean up gasket surfaces on side gear case housing and engine.

14..On side gear case housing remove old clutch shaft seal and replace
using a socket to press it in

15..Ensure the o-ring is still in place at the far left oil pipe in the
engine. Recommend replacing the o-ring...cheap insurance.

16..Apply light permatex to engine gasket surface this will hold the gasket
in place while you get the side gear case housing lined up and back in
place to bolt in.

17..Bolt side gear case housing back in. Fist tighten the three bolts that
are around the cross shaft bearing holder.

18..Reassemble in reverse order above.

19..Recommend replacing the banjo bolts crush washers during reassembly for
the oil lines

Helpful hints...

...Create a card board template of the gasket so you can shove the bolts in
it as you remove them from the housing.

...Use some sort of liquid wrench product on all the bolts/nuts... we broke
the cross shaft bearing holder housing and side gear case housing where one
of the four bolts went together...we were loosening the bolt not tightening
it! Thank goodness we had a donor bike to scavenge parts from.

...Do not tighten the most forward small bolt of the housing more than 8 ft
lbs. We broke ours off in the engine and ended up breaking part of the
engine case trying to easy out the broken bolt.

...Lining up the drive shaft and universal was not working so we had to
separate the drive shaft and final drive swing arm and mount them
separately. To get the splines to line up it, it took to two people one
moving the drive shaft at the rubber cover near the universal and the other
holding up the final drive housing.
