It's a 250 so it doesnt exactly have 4 cylinders but ok. Carbs could use a
rebuild, fuel might be bad, could be worn out or have low compression because
something is clogged and the valves could be gunned up keeping the valves from
closing and seating. The engine could be out of time, could have a vacuum leak
since the carbs are fully vacuum operated. There is a lot of things that could
be wrong, unless a video or a better explanation is told then it's hard to say.
A 250 nighthawk really wont get past 80 mph very well, and if its worn out or
put of time or any of the things I listed above itll make it run poorly or

Subject: Re: [Nighthawk Lovers] 1996 Nighthawk 250Cc Not going past 80Km/h That
sounds like the engine is not firing on all four cylinders. It's that slow if
that's the case. 1. Does it run with a rough sound? If so, you could possibly
have one coil out , and you'd have two dead cylinders, one on either side,
cooler than the others. If so, please spray water mist onto the exhaust headers
as they leave the engine. You'll see which cylinders are running poorly. 2. If
it is fuel related: The fuel can flood, making the bike run poorly. Shut off
the fuel petcock. This happens to mine once in a while, I drain the fuel from
the bowls of the carburetor, and let it dry out for an hour. Then I refuel the
bowls by turning the fuel petcock back on.3. You can put soapy water around the
spark plugs to check if you have any gasses leaking out during compression. 4.
If you haven't tested your compression already, you might want to. Pressing the
start button on a cylinder with the plug removed and your thumb over the hole,
the compression should puff your thumb up off the hole.Lets us know and answer
each with the numbers above, okay?On Tue, Nov 17, 2020 at 7:24 PM Jan Vaes
