Any way to avoid the SQL bugs and execute raw strings?

I took a look and I also don't see anything there that could cause this. When I 
run insert queries using the terminal this doesn't happen though. I thought nim 
was doing all sorts of magic but now I am not sure what it could be, maybe an 
encoding issue somewhere.
