Personally I don’t think changing the recommended settings it’s a problem as long as it is clearly stated in the docs that the meaning can change with every new nim version and this is also clearly documented and highlighted in the release docs.
At the very least, I agree with @jasonfi that having a way to show (and set!) the recommended options (e.g. when setting up a new nimble project) would be nice.
