As for the code quality of the compiler... At this point it's mediocre but it's constantly improving. I also encourage alternative language implementations and can give you plenty of advice how to do better. I believe (and probably I'm terribly misguided :D) that alternative implementations/dialects could be simpler (measured in lines of code) by an order of magnitude.
