Windy does have async downloading, however it currently requires --threads:on since the Windows HTTP async stuff requires threaded callbacks. I'm investigating how to get rid of this requirement for Nim compilation and also how to separate out the HTTP stuff to be a bit more standalone instead of requiring the windy pollEvents call + loop. Lots of thoughts on Windy but overall Windows is the most battle-tested platform right now I would say.
