I'm really unsure at least for the first point

For a programming text I feel like the convenience of an online version that 
can be accessed on the same device you'd be using to test/practice would lead 
to greater and not lesser sales

I actually don't think searchability is nearly as big a concern as some seem to 
think, since the chapter markings are incredibly granular so everything should 
be findable with relative ease

these are both fair, though I'm not sure that the second one is really your 
problem to solve
