Well, I'm puzzled about this particular case (searching for float formating) too, as... well, I've already said this --- if you're looking for a single specific function (which is, luckily, not some fancy operator), it's quite easy to find it. It would be less obvious if it was about some techniques, I'd say. So... I can't give you my answer, as I find index very useful.
