Well... 1959 : Quantum Mechanics were still at a very early stage, the Einstein-Podolski-Rosen-Paradoxon seemed unsolvable, Bell's inequalities were not discovered yet. 1959: LISP on the rise. with the first garbage collector.
2019 : QM made huge progress, Bell's inequalities were tested, EPRP has been approved (but contrary to Einstein's meaning) , quantum teleportation demonstrated etc etc. 2019: Garbage collection: Not so much progress . The golden times of OOP are long gone, GC is merely regarded as an obstacle, replaced with the new bandwagon GC-free programming aka "less is more". Conclusion: QM is easy, GC rather difficult.
