As @JohnS says, sounds like a DNS problem. I've never used Fedora, but assuming 
it's the basically the same as Redhat, check the content of /etc/resolv.conf. 
If you see entries 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 then delete them. Note though that if 
you're using dhclient to get a DHCP lease then these entries will be 
re-generated each time.
