Normally, NE should dial up, connect and download mail when I press e.g. Check Mail., or at a pre-set time when Connect automatically is set in the Preferences. It only does these things when newly loaded, on the whole -- it is not quire consistent. Mail never works correctly in this way. NE sometimes. I hope that's clearer.
