No "if, ands, or buts."
Getting a definitive answer to any question these days is a real pleasure.
And a one-word answer is a blessing.

The first question I ask someone who has problems with running Nisus Writer is:
Does it occur without any extensions loaded? [Just in case you don't know how, to restart without extensions… press the Shift key as you restart. Or, if you have a printing problem or a "WorldScript" problem, use the Extensions Manager to be sure you have enough extensions to "do what needs to be done".]
The clear implication of this is that you don't need any Extensions to make Nisus Writer run. When we install Nisus Writer 6.5 (using the installer application you download or find on the CD) we *might* install one extension: Apple Guide… only if the one we find on your hard drive is older than the one we have in the installer. And, we do this, not to make Nisus Writer run, but, to make sure you can read the Online help.
I hope this helps.
