Hi Gordon:

The files below both look the same to me, but I think that is because I am running under 10.3. I looked at the files though and I think the problem you are experiencing is a (known) bug in Cocoa's text system. It will show up any app that uses the standard Cocoa text components, like TextEdit.

In most RTF applications, tabs stops appear automatically every half inch or so unless you manually place a stop, and then they appear every half inch or so after that last stop you placed on the ruler. In Nisus Writer these are shown as small tick marks above the ruler. Cocoa, however, does not do this. Unless you manually place a tab stop every half inch, it will render tab stops as newlines instead.

As I said, I think this is fixed in 10.3 because it shows up correctly for me now.

Hi. I think there's a bug with the way Nisus Writer Express indents text. Look at these two files:

http://homepage.mac.com/redbird/.Public/nisusindenttest.rtf
http://homepage.mac.com/redbird/.Public/texteditindenttest.rtf

(Or just mount my public folder and grab them)

nisusindenttest looks fine in NWE. But compare the two in TextEdit and you'll see that nisusindenttest looks wrong. It contains some line breaks rather than indents for some reason.

I'm not sure what's going on and I don't recall seeing this anywhere. Obviously, I would expect the indents to still be correct when I open the file outside of NWE.

I have only tested this with RTF files. It may or may not apply to other formats.

If it's not a bug, what am I doing wrong?
