Writers For Taslima
The Jaipur litfest and the World Book Fair may have kept mum, but writers
turned up in full force to support Taslima's cause. Vinod Mehta, Arundhati
Roy, Girish Karnad, Mahashweta Devi were among the galaxy of authors,
editors, academics who turned up at the press meet in Delhi. They also
expressed solidarity for M.F. Husain and journalists in jail.
Achtung Baby!
Whatever happened to all that fine European restraint? SRK, our very own
angel of bombast and overblown cool, created quite a hungama at the Berlin
film festival. Arriving for the gala screening of *OSO*, he duly spoke up
for Bollywood kitsch, song 'n dance numbers and the rest. "Hollywood should
consider borrowing from us," quoth he.
Paint It Green
Ten years on, and the challenge of building a greener earth has been taken
up by the students of the Mahindra World College, near Pune. Their
biodiversity park projects earned plaudits from none other than the PM, who
