After a recent reboot (which failed) I discovered that GRUB has unspecified 
limit on number of boot options. In code there is a structure for boot entries 
and then next array is starting at fixed address. Seems like a 
several-bytes-per-line array (strings are stored higher) must not exceed some 
size in hundreds of bytes. So I recommend everyone to be aware of it - just in 
case..
