Hi Ludo,

I'm working on modifying the darwin stdenv in such a way that it
ultimately won't depend on any xcode tools. Can I use the darwin-updates
branch for this?

Also, do you know the rationale for using the Apple gcc fork instead of
vanilla GNU gcc on darwin?
