you are working on Darwin, right? If that's the case, then you've run into <https://github.com/NixOS/nixpkgs/issues/2689>. Basically, Hydra serves broken GHC binaries on Darwin. The closure comes with an ancient version of Haddock for reasons nobody quite understands.
