Good news! Sourceforge is upgrading. The list their old and new
configurations below, and it's sort of interesting (I think) to see what's
behind the Sourceforge site.

Note that they are moving from an ancient version of Perl to a pretty new
one (5.8.3). They have also upgraded to Apache 2.0. That's good news in
the event we try to run Perl things (especially CGI) from the sourceforge
site (in other words, from our project web pages, like
http://google-hack.sourceforge.net, etc. I don't think we are doing that
now, but it's  something we have considered in the past. In any case, some
of you are planning to run web services on talisker and marimba - that
should be fine. I wouldn't suggest changing plans because of this upgrade.
Also, note that they are announcing the intention to upgrade, not the
actual upgrade, so it still could be a while.

Additional upgrades may be performed after this initial upgrade is
completed; any follow-up changes will be announced via the
Site Status page.

A host roughly matching the configuration of the new project web
servers is being placed within the Compile Farm on 2004-10-22.
