Jason had his thesis defense today, and I'm pleased to say that all went very well! Despite asking many many questions during the exam, his committee members were satisifed and very interested in the work, so now we must just make final changes to the thesis, and Jason will be officially graduated. Jason had one of the longer defenses in recent history, with the presentation and exam lasting from 10am until approx 12:45 pm. But, it was all quite positive and interesting, and Jason did a good job handling many many questions.
So, this marks a very early completion for me with respect to graduate students. I have never had two students finish their defenses at such an early date, so congratulations are certainly in order for both Jason and Prath, who accomplished a lot in a timely fashion!
