It's never too early to start planning ahead! If you will be a second year student next year, your goal should be to have our thesis work result in a paper that appears at something like the following:
NAACL, June 4-8, 2006 New York City http://nlp.cs.nyu.edu/hlt-naacl06/ AAAI, July 16-20, 2006 Boston http://www.aaai.org/Conferences/National/2006/aaai06.html ACL/COLING, July 17-21, 2006, Sydney, Austrailia http://www.acl2006.org The submission deadlines for these are not yet posted, but are likely to be in January. I will probably suggest that you lean towards domestic events like NAACL or AAAI, since international travel is so expensive. Anyway, there are many other great events to consider, but the above are probably the ones I'm personally most interested in. Other interesting events include : SIGIR 2006, in August in Seattle http://www.ischool.washington.edu/sigir2006/ CogSCI 2006, July 26-29 in Vancouver http://www.cogsci.rpi.edu/~rsun/cogsci2006/ And of course there are others. But, it's not too early to start thinking about submissions! Ted -- Ted Pedersen http://www.d.umn.edu/~tpederse Yahoo!
