I recently learned about an NLP conference in Pakistan, which is a pretty unusual thing and surely worth mentioning. It is called the Conference on Language and Technology, and it will take place at the University of Peshawar in August 2007. Details can be found here:
http://www.dcs.edu.pk/clt/ Papers are due April 9 for those of you who might be summering in Pakistan. :) The "main" NLP conference in India (ICON) is not taking place in 2008, rather I think it will be merged with something else. This was announced at ICON 2007 which took place in January in Hyderabad, but I can't quite remember the details... And then there will be a more general AI conference in India where NLP is welcomed and encouraged, and that is of course IICAI, the Indian International Conference on AI. More details can be found here: http://www.iiconference.org/ This will take place in December 17-19 2007 in Pune. Papers for IICAI are due April 2. In any case, I've always felt that these regional conferences serve a very useful purpose, so I try and keep track of them. Enjoy, Ted -- Ted Pedersen http://www.d.umn.edu/~tpederse
