Some of you may know that we have web interfaces to two of our packages, WordNet-Similarity and SenseClusters. You may not be aware that both interfaces have been online nearly continuously since January 2005.
Sometimes people ask me how busy these web services are, so I collected a bit of data to try and answer that question. The WordNet::Similarity web server runs from : http://marimba.d.umn.edu/cgi-bin/similarity.cgi and it allows a user to input two words and get back their similarity or relatedness according to one or all of the measures we support. This has serviced approximately 6,180,000 queries in the last three years. The SenseClusters web server runs from: http://marimba.d.umn.edu/cgi-bin/SC-cgi/index.cgi and this allows a user to run an entire discrimination experiment using SenseClusters. In effect this interface creates a discriminate.pl command for a user and lets them run an experiment on the data that they upload. This has run approximately 10,000 such experiments in the last three years. In both cases these interfaces have seen quite a bit more activity than I expected, and it's nice to see their use continuing and even expanding as time goes by.
