Greetings all, I'm happy to report that I'll be working with two post-doctoral researchers starting in September. They will be based in the Twin Cities, and jointly supervised with my colleague Serguei Pakhomov. Both will be working on our NIH project to develop and apply measures of semantic relatedness in the medical domain to the problem of identifying adverse drug reactions.
One of these post-docs is well known to many of you, and that is Bridget McInnes, who will be finishing her PhD in the Twin Cities this September, and then moving into the post-doc position thereafter. http://www-users.cs.umn.edu/~bthomson/ The second post-doc is Ying Liu, who has her PhD from the University of Alabama Birmingham, and has most recently worked as a research analyst at Fair Isaac Corp. in the Bay Area of California. http://students.cis.uab.edu/liuyi/ We are quite pleased to have the opportunity to work with both Bridget and Ying, and are very much looking forward to this September when things will really get underway. We'll keep you updated as to how things go. :) And, I hope the start of the new academic year finds all of you doing well, no matter what you might be up to. Please do stay in touch, and let us know of any changes in your circumstances. Cordially, Ted -- Ted Pedersen http://www.d.umn.edu/~tpederse
